Culturx (pronounced Cultura) was born with the purpose of celebrating Latin culture and sharing it with everyone else. Because being Latina / Latino/ Latinx in Canada means something different to everyone, for those who just moved to this country and for those who have been here longer or were born here. With that idea and based on our own experiences, we wanted to create a platform for our community to get together, have a space to support each other, share ideas and celebrate. 

Also, we wanted to create a space where non-Latinos can learn about our culture; inviting them to participate in the multiple events that take place in the city, find information and ultimately celebrate together.

We believe that as a community, we need to rally behind the people that represent our culture. This means supporting our local restaurants, businesses and community organizers. At Culturx, we’ve launched a few projects that allows us to support our community such as our Flavours Map which highlights and promotes the Latin-owned restaurants right here in the Forest City.

We believe that in order for our community to grow, we need to be connected. This means being connected to what’s going on in our community, connected to resources and supports, and connected to each other. At Culturx, we connect you through projects like Noti London, Spanish Speaking Circle and resource sharing via our social platforms.

We believe in sharing widely our culture and heritage. This means inviting all people from different cultures and backgrounds to participate in our celebrations and conversations. At Culturx, we educate you on the rich diversity of our community, share information about Forest City Latinxs, create opportunities for cultural exchanges and encourage everyone to join us.

We believe in creating spaces of epic celebration & community moments where Latinxs can feel represented, safe and a true sense of belonging. At Culturx, this means promoting those spaces on our Community Calendar, encouraging diversity and inclusion in our collective spaces, and curating experiences for our community where our culture and heritage are celebrated like at our yearly Latin Community Festival.

Porque ser Latina / Latino / Latine en Canadá significa algo diferente para todos, para quienes se acaban de mudar a este país y para quienes llevan más tiempo aquí o nacieron aquí. Con esa idea y en base a nuestras propias experiencias, queríamos crear una plataforma para que nuestra comunidad se uniera, tuviéramos un espacio para apoyarnos, compartir, ideas y celebrar.

Además, queríamos crear un espacio donde los no latinos pudieran aprender sobre nuestra cultura; invitándolos a participar en los eventos que pasan en la ciudad, encontrar información y finalmente celebrar juntos.
